Does itching a mosquito bite make it?

Does itching a mosquito bite make it bigger? I notice that each bite seems small until that fateful time I happen to scratch it once, so uncontrollably I itch it a lot, then it seems the size of a quarter! So here is the question: Does itching it spread whatever substances makes you itchy in the dermis and epidermis layer, or am I just severely irritating it? Just curious. THANKS!
