Conjunctivitis, how long does it last?

I have had a very red, itchy eye for 6 days now. I havent itched it in days yet it is still red and watering. I have tried 2 different eye drops and neither has helped. I work in a grocery store and Im feeling very self-concious about my eye, any ideas how long it takes to clear? Thanks
