How do I delete Firefox Bookmarks to free up memory?

It's not just that they don't take up that much memory, it's that they take up so little memory that there is no mechanism to return them to any general pool. So you can't delete firefox bookmarks to free up memory that will be used for any purpose but to hold new bookmarks.
